The former California Governor is allegedly getting closer to lock a deal with Lionsgate to star as a Sheriff in Kim Ji-Woon's first English-language film.

AceShowbiz - After he handed over his governmental role as the 38th Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger is longing to return to film. While he has been tapped for animated TV series "The Governator", the "Terminator 3: Rise of The Machines" actor will allegedly star in "The Last Stand".
Movie Web reports that the 63-year-old actor is almost sealing a deal to play a Sheriff, a role left vacant by Liam Neeson, in Kim Ji-Woon's first English-language movie. Similarly, Slash Film also reports that Lionsgate is waiting for Arnold's confirmation, suggesting that the studio and the actor have agreed on some major points.
Previously, Ji-Woon has shared his thought about the forthcoming film. He said in a statement, "My concept for 'The Last Stand' is that it's kind of a combination of 'Die Hard' and 'High Noon' where [the latter] was about protecting something very important that needs to be protected, while 'Die Hard' is a very drawn-out, long process that almost kills someone in the process, so my film will be something that has to be very well protected and in the process, we almost die protecting it in a way."
"So if 'I Saw the Devil' was about a person's extreme remorse about having lost something that they couldn't protect, 'The Last Stand' would be where someone puts their lives on the line to protect something that's very important and it will be a bit more optimistic film in that regard."
The forthcoming film tells a story about a cartel leader that uses it to break out of a courthouse. As he speeds to the Mexican border, the only thing standing in his way is a border-town sheriff and his inexperienced staff. Written by Andrew Knauer, the action movie is scheduled to make its way out in 2012.
