'Total Recall' Reboot Finds Villain in Bryan Cranston

The 'Breaking Bad' actor is in negotiations to play the villainous Vilos Cohaagen, a Euromerica leader, in the revival of the 1990's film.

might star as the villain in "" remake. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the "" actor is in talks to play Vilos Cohaagen, the leader of Euromerica who is secretly planning to invade New Shanghai.

Although the film is a revival of the 1990's sci-fi movie, the "Total Recall" reboot will be slightly different from the original version. The 1990's film revolved around a man who is haunted by a recurring dream of journeying to Mars.

He buys a literal dream vacation from a company called Rekall Inc., which sells implanted memories. The man comes to believe he is a secret agent and ends up on a Martian colony, where he fights to overthrow a despotic ruler controlling the production of air.

Meanwhile, the upcoming movie will tell a story about two nations, Euromerica and New Shanghai. In New Shanghai, a factory worker named Douglas Quaid () starts to believe he is a spy, although he does not know for which side.

Cranston has been working steadily in film, in addition to having won the last three Emmys for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series in "Breaking Bad". He has wrapped "" and stars in "" which is currently playing in U.S. theaters. He will also appear along with in "".

Directed by Len Wiseman, "Total Recall" is scheduled to grace theaters across the nation on August 3, 2012. Kurt Wimmer pens the script, while Neal H. Moritz is on board to serve as producer of the sci-fi drama.
