Confirmed, Tom Hanks Is Booked for '30 Rock'

The actor has tweeted to announce his upcoming guest-starring appearance on the Tina Fey-starring comedy.

is set to join "" gang this spring. A source has confirmed that the two-time Academy Awards winner will guest star on the NBC comedy series. The actor has also taken it to Twitter to announce his new job, writing "RadioMan delivers msg from T.Fey. Result? I'm on 30 Rock! Thanks, RMan Hanx."

No details are available for Hanks' role just yet, but TVLine speculates he may play himself. His guest-starring role on the Emmy-winning series will mark his first acting appearance on primetime network TV in more than two decades. His last network TV role was on 1980s' "Family Ties".

Since then, he has jumped to serve behind the lens as helmer or producer for some TV projects. The "" actor has also made occasional cable cameos for such miniseries as "Band of Brothers" and "From the Earth to the Moon" which he produced, and played Abraham Lincoln in the 2003 PBS documentary "Freedom".

"30 Rock" has previously had the likes of , , and as guest stars.
