Just after executive producer Joel Wyman dropped the good news via Twitter, a FOX spokeswoman came with a confirmation.

AceShowbiz - The bubble has burst, "Fringe" is officially a go for fourth season. The supernatural show is serving FOX well rating-wise although it was moved to the death slot, Friday nights. "Fringe was picked up!!!! Thanks Fringedom!" executive producer Joel Wyman tweeted.

The pickup was a close call because the drama fell to its lowest rating last Friday. It was down by 13|percent| from the previous night with 3.8 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in the adult demo. Nevertheless, the show has averaged 3.3 million viewers in the ad-favored demo and 6.3 million in total viewers.

Following Wyman's first hint, a network spokeswoman confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the show received a full 22-episode season pickup. In the meantime, "Lost" creator and fan of the show Damon Lindelof wrote, "In an alternate universe, FRINGE was just cancelled. In this one, however, SEASON FOUR, baby! #YAY"
