'Rise of the Apes' Moved Up for Summer Release

After being moved back from June to Thanksgiving, the 'Planet of the Apes' prequel is now set to be released in August.

"Rise of the Apes" is back on 20th Century Fox's summer movies line-up. The action sci-fi starring was initially due June 24 Stateside before it was moved back to November 23. Now, it gets a new release date on August 5 as a Fox spokesperson says executives feel the movie is best suited for the summer.

On the same day, Universal Pictures will drop -starring comedy "". Additionally, "Rise of the Apes" will be up against Summit Entertainment's sci-fi alien invasion film "" and Sony Pictures' family animation "".

"Rise of the Apes" will tell a story of how a genetic engineering experiment leads to the creation of intelligence in apes and causes an inevitable conflict between species. Directed by Rupert Wyatt, the movie has , and among other cast members.

Revealing another shift, Fox announces via Twitter that they will push back the release date of "" from August 5 to December 9, just in time for the holiday season. The comedy features as an unlikely babysitter and comes the directing hand of David Gordon Green.
