Reports say the 'Twilight Saga's Eclipse' helmer is in talks to develop and direct the upcoming superhero project for Fox and Regency.

AceShowbiz - New "Daredevil" movie is taking shape with a helmer attached to it. Variety reports David Slade has been tapped to direct the upcoming project which was picked up by 20th Century Fox and Regency in early 2010, but The Hollywood Reporter (THR) says Slade is still in talks for the gig.

The untitled Daredevil project will be more a continuation of the "Daredevil" saga and will not contain material from 2003 "Daredevil, The Movie" which was directed by Mark Steven Johnson. Thus, Fox points out that the new project "shouldn't be considered a reboot."

Moreover, THR learns from sources that the new story line will be the adaptation of the critically acclaimed "Born Again" run of the comic series, written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli. The said story sees the Kingpin of Crime learning the identity of the superhero and beginning to systematically destroy his life.

No writer is hired to work on the film project, but scribe will work closely with Slade, Variety adds. It is also not known when the production for the action superhero movie will be kicked off, and whether or not Ben Affleck who played Daredevil in the original film will be involved in the new installment.

David Slade previously directed vampire movies "30 Days of Night" and "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse". He was linked to "The Wolverine", "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and "The Hunger Games". The U.K.-born filmmaker is set to direct "The Last Voyage of Demeter" and the new "Daredevil" movie might follow after.
