The Best Supporting Actress winner says she didn't mean to offend anyone, 'it's probably a very inappropriate place to use that particular word.'

AceShowbiz - Winning her first Oscar trophy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role, Melissa Leo dropped F-bomb when collecting the Academy Award on stage. "When I watched Kate [Winslet] two years ago it was so [bleep] easy," the 50-year-old star said before realizing her mistake and covering her mouth.
She later apologized for her foul-mouthed speech. "I had no idea. This words...I apologize to anyone that they offended. There's a great deal of the English language that is in my vernacular. I really don't mean to offend and it's probably a very inappropriate place to use that particular word," she stated as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.
Melissa won the prize for her role as Micky Ward's mother Alice in "The Fighter". Back in 2009, she was nominated for the same category for her portrayal as Ray Eddy in "Frozen River", but lost it to Kate Winslet ("The Reader").
Later that February 27 night, Melissa was poked fun by host Anne Hathaway. The "Alice in Wonderland" movie beauty appeared on stage with a bingo machine during a commercial break and picked one lucky audience to get a plate of sushi. "As Melissa Leo would say, it's really good f**king sushi!" she shouted.
Melissa's "The Fighter" co-star Christian Bale also made fun of her. The actor jokingly said, "Melissa, I'm not going to drop the f bomb like she did. I've dropped plenty before," when accepting a trophy for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.
