On this Super Bowl weekend, the thriller outdoes 3-D film 'Sanctum' which debuts low with only about $9 million gross.

AceShowbiz - North American Box Office still sees no big competition on this Super Bowl weekend. Screen Gems' "The Roommate" easily snatches the champion title at the chart with an estimated $15.6 million as Universal's "Sanctum" only rakes in an approximately $9.2 million on the first weekend.

It is a solid start for the thriller featuring Leighton Meester which got poor reviews. Still, it is far from "Dear John" which opened $30.5 million during last year's Super Bowl. In fact, the drama which also came from Screen Gems is the second best Super Bowl weekend opener of all time after "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour".

"Sanctum", meanwhile, could not crack the $10 million mark despite the pricey 3-D tickets and having James Cameron as executive producer. Still, its opening gross was better than Universal anticipated and the movie lands on number two at Box Office.

"No Strings Attached" drops one place from second to third with additional $8.4 million cume. "The King's Speech" and "The Green Hornet" swap places - the former is up one position to the fourth with an estimated $8.3 million and the latter is now on the fifth with an approximately $6.1 million revenue.

Last week's champion "The Rite", meanwhile, plunges to number six. It drops about 62.4|percent| in ticket sales, earning an estimated $5.6 million on its second weekend.
