With FOX's midseason schedule already filled and more new series are sprouting, there is little need to continue the third season beyond its initial order.

AceShowbiz - FOX apparently doesn't have a need for "Lie to Me" beyond its initial 13-episode order. Sources have confirmed to several sites that the network has no plan to order the back 9 although it does not mean that the show is canceled.

Starring Tim Roth, the crime drama will be replaced next year by new cop drama called "The Chicago Code" which comes from its former executive producer Shawn Ryan. The third season run of "Lie to Me" will be complete at the end of January. After that, it will stay in the bubble until a decision is made in May.

There is a doubt that "Lie to Me" has any hope for renewal at all, but all signs point to another direction. The show, despite changing time slots every now and then for the network's adjustments, has remained solid in all of them. In fact, it recently scored its season high of 6.3 million viewers on Monday, November 29 night.
