He would be the host of TLC's reality series 'Homecoming' where families are surprised with the return of their loved ones from duty.

AceShowbiz - Perhaps Billy Ray Cyrus can pluck a lesson about family from his new job. The country crooner, who is in the middle of divorcing wife Leticia "Tish" Cyrus, has signed up for an inspiring new job, hosting TLC's "Homecoming". The limited series will see a reunion between soldiers and their unknowing family.

"Homecoming extends TLC's focus on authentic and relatable life experiences," said Eileen O'Neill, president and GM of TLC as quoted by THR. "We look forward to honoring our service men and women, and celebrating in the unmatched moment when they are reunited with their families."

The show is inspired by online videos which mix a number of military homecomings. Viewers can expect raw emotional reaction when the military personnel returns home to their loved ones.

TLC has ordered three one-hour episodes which will be produced by Authentic Entertainment, Inc. No premiere date has been set but it is aimed for Spring 2011.

Billy and the show are seemingly a perfect match for he's known for his respect to the troops. Late last year, he flew out to visit soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and was so moved by their meeting that he asked the writers of "Hannah Montana" where he starred in to pen a special episode. He and daughter Miley Cyrus invited the soldiers' family to watch the taping, and the children of soldiers got to record messages to their parents.
