The drama still holds the first spot in its second week as 'Life as We Know It' and 'Secretariat' debut at the second and third places respectively.

AceShowbiz - "The Social Network" is a champion at North American Box Office for second straight week. The movie drops a modest 30.9|percent| from last week's ticket sales, adding $15.4 million to its domestic gross.

After it debuted strong and was well received, Sony Pictures which released "Social Network" apparently had a big hope for the David Fincher-directed drama. "We had hoped for a 'hold' (of the No. 1 spot) and felt great about the picture. It turns out it was one of the best holds all year," says Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony. "We started well in the big cities and now it is starting to permeate the mid- and smaller cities. It really is the talk of the country right now."

On number two and three there are "Life as We Know It" and "Secretariat", which just opened last weekend, respectively. The romantic comedy starring Katherine Heigl rakes in $14.5 million, while the Diane Lane-starring movie which is based on true story pulls in $12.7 million despite Walt Disney's aggressive marketing for the latter flick.

Still, Disney distribution chief Chuck Viane claims the studio is pleased that the audience is pleased. "You wouldn't think of this as a family film but it is a film that plays for families. In the fall, those kind of movies tend to show strong legs," he states. "Now we just need to convince the people on the coasts to see the movie."

"Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" drops two places from last week and now sits on the fourth with an additional $6.9 million cume. Rounding up the top five is another newcomer "My Soul to Take" from Wes Craven which has an opening gross of $6.8 million.

The most disappointing debut this week is perhaps "It's Kind of a Funny Story". Having Zach Galifianakis, who is undoubtedly funny, and Emma Roberts on the cast ensemble, the drama comedy does not even enter the top ten and only lands on the twelfth with $2 million revenue.
