'Daily Show With Jon Stewart' Pays Tribute to Greg Giraldo
TV

Calling the late comedian someone who 'you loved to run into', Stewart was playing a clip of Giraldo making audience laugh with his religion jokes.

AceShowbiz - Jon Stewart managed to slip a tribute to his friend Greg Giraldo who passed away on Wednesday, September 29 afternoon. The comedian was taken off life support by his family after accidentally overdosing over prescribed pills and went into coma for several days.

Stewart and his "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" team acknowledged the comedian's death in the pre-taped episode by changing the "Moment of Zen" segment to "Moment of Greg". Stewart said in remembrance, "When you were working the clubs, he was just one of those guys that you loved to run into, because he was always a font of warmth and good humor and just smart-as-hell comedy."

A clip of the comedian doing a stand up on Comedy Central was then played and ended with "We'll miss you brother, Greg Giraldo 1965 - 2010".

Meanwhile, Comedy Central has also taken time to release a statement in the wake of Giraldo's death. They said, "The tragic news of Greg's passing hits us very, very hard. Greg has been a member of the Comedy Central family for years, injecting his energy and wicked sense of humor into countless projects. The comedy community lost a brother today. Our thoughts are with his family."
