Guillermo del Toro Sets Home for 'Trollhunters' at DreamWorks

Beside writing and directing 'Trollhunters', del Toro will also serve as a consultant and exec producer on DreamWorks' 'Kung Fu Panda 2' and 'Puss in Boots'.

Guillermo del Toro's upcoming animation "" has landed at DreamWorks Animation (DWA), The Hollywood Reporter (THR) says. The project, which was first announced a year ago, will be directed and written by the Mexican filmmaker.

The site additionally reports that del Toro will make DWA his animation home. The move means that he will serve as a consultant and exec producer on several projects already in development, including "Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom", "" and one yet-to-be-revealed project. "His fingerprints will even be on DWA's next feature, '', which hits theaters November 5," THR further informs.

On "Trollhunters", del Toro explains, "I wanted very much to develop a story that could be written for kids but dealt with a genre that was scary." He adds, "It essentially combines fairy tales with modern times and is about how difficult it is to be kid. Normally, kids are idealized in animated films. But the growing pains, married with the notion that there is a world right next to us that is completely plagued by creatures of ancient lore, it's thematically fitting with the rest of my stuff."

The project, however, will not come out until the next few years as del Toro has just begun writing the script. The "Hellboy" helmer recently wrapped "" and has "" and "The Haunted Mansion (2013)" lined up next. He is additionally on board to produce "". "People say, 'How does he do it?' Well, I don't work on them at the same time," del Toro says on how he could make such a lot of movies.
