Director Is 'Going After' Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp for 'Nemesis'
Movie

When the comic book creator, Mark Millar, tells Tony Scott that he fancies those two actors for the movie adaptation, the helmer says he is going to 'give them a call'.

AceShowbiz - Mark Millar's hope to get Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp to portray the two lead characters in "Nemesis" has got a positive feedback from the movie's director. When appearing on Richard Bacon show on BBC Radio Five Live, the comic book creator is asked whether those two A-list actors are going to star in the feature film and he replies, "That's who the director's going after, yeah."

"Tony Scott, brother of Ridley Scott... I just got a call from him, literally about a month ago... it was one of those very surreal things," Millar reveals his conversation with the movie's director. "This is a $150 million budget... he said 'Who do you fancy for it?'... I said 'I dunno, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp' so he said 'That's good, we'll give them a call'."

Millar previously stated that Pitt would fit to play Blake Morrow while Depp should portray Nemesis. He told Empire Online, "With Nemesis, you've got two great roles for two A-list stars... The thing is, one guy has to be as good as the other. You've got Holmes versus Moriarty here or Batman versus The Joker, so each one has got to be a $20 million actor, really. I think you could go for the A+ list and get Johnny Depp as Nemesis and Brad Pitt as Blake Morrow."

On his choice, he went on explaining, "[Blake Morrow] He's Commissioner Gordon meets Sherlock Holmes, so it's got to be a big physical policeman who you feel could stand up for himself in a physical fight. It's got to be somebody who can take a punch. You couldn't really get anybody who's too cerebral. He'd have to be a very physical actor so it would need to be a Pitt. Or maybe even a Liam Neeson."

Millar added, "When I was writing the comic, I genuinely saw Johnny Depp as Nemesis. He's a thin-faced guy, slightly creepy, a cross between Heath Ledger and Christian Bale, and someone who could pull off both those things at the same time is Depp. He would get it. He goes slightly crazy in his roles!"

"Nemesis", based on Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's comic book limited series of the same title, follows a man with Bruce Wayne type who decides to turn into a super villain instead of a superhero. The movie project, however, is still in very early stage with no scribe hired to write the screenplay.

Brad Pitt is currently shooting "Moneyball" which will be his next starring vehicle after appearing in "Inglourious Basterds". Johnny Depp, meanwhile, has been in Hawaii for the production of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides". He can soon be seen in "The Tourist" which is due December 10 in the U.S.
