Shooting Schedule and Location of J.J. Abrams' Sci-Fi 'Super 8' Revealed

The principal photography will take place late September in Weirton, West Virginia, primarily on the town's Main Street.

J.J. Abrams' super secret project "" is going to roll the camera in late September, Production Weekly has learned. The shooting is said located in Weirton, West Virginia with the scenes mainly taken on the town's Main Street.

Moreover, The Associated Press [via Charleston Daily Mail] reports that the production is scheduled to last two to three months. The project, which is disguised with fake title "Darlings", revolves around a 14-year-old boy and is set in a steel town in 1979. For the filming, crew have been looking for vintage props, including old cars, sources reveal.

Coming Soon additionally notes that "Super 8" is apparently made under several fake titles. Articles in WOWK and Weirton Daily Times reveal that a project called "Wickham", which has similarity with "Darlings" in plot details, is going to be filmed in Weirton.

"Super 8", which has launched a teaser trailer back in May, has been said to focus on otherworldly creatures captured on film by amateur cinematographers. It is not related to J.J. Abrams' previous project "" though the filmmaker will direct and write the script for the upcoming sci-fi, which is tentatively set for 2011 release.
