Selling 156,000 copies in its first week, 'The Suburbs' becomes an indie album with the highest opening number since Pearl Jam's 2009 'Backspacer'.

AceShowbiz - Indie group Arcade Fire rise straight to the first position on Billboard Hot 200 with their third studio album "The Suburbs". The effort leads the U.S. albums chart with 156,000 copies, becoming the highest opening number for any indie album since Pearl Jam's 2009 "Backspacer" sold 189,000 copies via the band's own label.

Last week's champion Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare" is forced to drop two slots to the third place, while Eminem's "Recovery" remains the runner-up. The rock album adds 45,000 (down 72|percent|) in its second week on sale, and the rap record shifts 152,000 (down 4|percent|).

There are three new entries which make it to the Top 10 this week. Bun B starts at No. 4 with "Trill O.G." which bows 41,000 units, Buckcherry's "All Night Long" arrives at No. 10 with 28,000, and Lady GaGa finds replacement in "The Remix" after "The Fame" gets kicked out of the chart. The revamped-tracks collection makes a notable debut at No. 6 with 39,000.

With the arrival of new releases, all the holdovers are forced to drop to lower slots. Rick Ross' "Teflon Don" falls from No. 3 to No. 5, Justin Bieber's "My World 2.0" drops to No. 7, Drake's "Thank Me Later" now sits at No. 8, and Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" secures the ninth spot.
