Zachary Levi Clears Up 'Superman' Audition Rumor
Movie

Reported eying the coveted role in 'The Man of Steel', the 'Chuck' star says, 'It's complete fiction.'

AceShowbiz - Zachary Levi is surely longing to portray a superhero character but he has nothing to do with the next "Superman" movie. Asked about speculation that he has joined an audition for the role of Clark Kent in "The Man of Steel", the actor sets the record straight by saying "It's complete fiction. A bummer that it's complete fiction!"

He then recalls how he began noticing the news, sharing "I start getting these text messages from my friends, saying, 'What is going on? You didn't tell us any of this!' And I'm asking, 'What are you talking about?' " Levi further says, "I get this link emailed to me from my publicist. She goes, 'Just so you know...' I go check it out, and of course, on the bottom of that article there's all these comments, and every other article that spawned off of that and all the comments on those sites."

"The vast majority are like 'He couldn't be Superman!' And I'm like, 'All right! I get it!'," Levi sums up the comment, before mentioning another comment which reads, "I love Zach, but he's no Superman." The "Chuck" star goes on explaining, "I guess one of the things that I fear is that people pigeonhole me in the nerd role. Because a lot them say, 'Well, I can see him as Clark Kent, but I can't see me as Supes'." He adds with a laugh, "I'm an actor! Just give me six months and a gym. Give me something!"

But Levi does not deny that he would love to be seen as a superhero in next project someday. "I'm like, enough with the rumors already. Just let me be a superhero someday. I'd love to! I'm such a nerd about that stuff," he tells IGN. "When 'Green Lantern' came around, when every single one [of these movies] comes around, I'm always calling my agent, going, 'What's going on with this!?' And then closest I ever got was being cast in 'Thor' [as Fandral], and then that didn't work out."

Beside Zachary Levi, Jon Hamm and Joe Manganiello have also been linked to the lead role in "The Man of Steel". Meanwhile, Brandon Routh who portrayed the flying superhero in "Superman Returns" has expressed his interest to reprise his role in the next installment which which will involve Christopher Nolan.
