The sci-fi flick still holds the first position though it drops 35.6 percent in ticket sales while the drama starring Zac Efron debuts on sixth with an estimated 12.1 million dollar gross.

AceShowbiz - "Inception" is still the most watched movie in North America as of last weekend. The movie has stayed on top of the chart for three straight weeks with an additional $27.5 million cume, outclassing a number of newcomers such as "Dinner for Schmucks", "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore" and "Charlie St. Cloud".

" 'Inception' has seeped into the cultural zeitgeist," says Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com. "It's something that everyone is talking about right now. When a movie is able to do that and something just clicks, it becomes a national - even an international - discussion, and it's seemingly impervious to any of the newcomers."

A comedy with Steve Carell on the lead, "Dinner for Schmucks" enters the chart on the second spot with $23.5 million cume. Thus, it pushes aside last week runner-up "Salt" which now drops to the third and rakes in $19.5 million.

Universal Pictures 3-D CGI feature "Despicable Me" follows on the fourth spot with an additional $15.5 revenue. Rounding up the top five, meanwhile, is "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore" which collects $12.3 million on its first weekend.

Another newcomer "Charlie St. Cloud" is slightly behind "Cats & Dogs 2" with $12.4 million gross. "With a Zac Efron movie and a 3-D sequel to a popular movie, I think people expected it to be a horse race, but it really wasn't," Don Harris, Paramount's vice president of distribution, comments on the drama and "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore".
