For the first time in '30 Rock' history, the cast will appear in front of live audience at home and perform twice.

AceShowbiz - After four seasons, "30 Rock" will go live for the first time. NBC announced at the Television Critics Association conference on Friday, July 30 that October 14 episode of the comedy series will be a live broadcast from New York's Studio 8H. The cast would perform the episode twice so that both East and West Coast viewers get to see it in the same way.
"I can't imagine a series more suited to do an incredible live episode, thanks to its many cast, writers and producers, who hail from TV's most renowned live series, SNL," Angela Bromstad, NBC's primetime entertainment president said. It was additionally revealed that executive producers Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels were approached with the scheme and took up the challenge immediately.
NBC has a lot of experience doing live shows before but this is the first time for "30 Rock". Fey herself, who is also a star on the show, is hailing from "Saturday Night Live".
Also revealed during the conference, Drew Carey would guest star on "Community" and Rob Lowe has been promoted to be a regular on "Parks and Recreation". Regarding new programs that would invade their future schedule, NBC president Jeff Gaspin said, "I'm hopeful there is room for two comedies. They're different, I think their audiences are different. Our goal is to rebuild and get stronger."
