Comic Con 2010: 'Stargate Universe' and 'Caprica' Panel Highlights

There will be a Robert Carlyle-directed episode in season 2 of 'SGU' and more kick-ass performance from the young females in season 1.5 of 'Caprica'.

AceShowbiz - Sy Fy presented two of its leading series on the second day of San Diego Comic Con, taking Ballroom 20 as the venue. First up was "Stargate Universe" which had Robert Carlyle, Alaina Huffman, David Blue, and Ming-Na in attendance and producer Robert Cooper as moderator.

The panel was kicked off with a new trailer of the upcoming season which will premiere this September. A Q & A session followed a discussion about each actor's favorite scene and what it takes to play the roles. Carlyle then revealed that he's going to direct the fourth episode into the season which is called "Pathogen". The network also confirmed that the show returns September 28.

Spoilery bits shared during the panel are that Rush discovers Bridge of Destiny but decided not to tell anyone. "It becomes a character for the rest of the season," said Carlyle. There will be a time-traveling scenes, the return of Robert Picardo and David Hewlett as well as the guest starring appearance of Robert Knepper. Eli, additionally will get a love interest and finds her within Lucian Alliance members. "Nerds need love, too," Blue joked.

Next it was all "Caprica" with the help of Alessandra Torresani, James Masters, Sasha Roiz and exec producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick. These people confirmed that the second half of season 1 would air in January 2011 and that they are confident for a second season. Masters spilled that he would be in the last season of "Smallville".

Moore revealed how he enjoys writing for the female characters and how they will grow throughout the remaining 10 episodes. The older ones like Sister Clarice and Amanda Graystone would show dominance while the young ones like Zoe would kick some a**. "It's surprising how in-tune the writers are with 16-year-old girls," Torresani said. However, they still don't have plans to show the younger versions of the characters from "Battlestar Galactica".

Other highlights from the panel are: Geminon will play significant role in an episode, Toran will be introduced at some point, and Tamara will be more present. Eick also teased, "Not to give anything away, but Lacy starts calling herself Larry in the second half of the season."
