The twelfth season boasts one more high-profiled actress to fill in the role as Assistant District Attorney which was succeeded by Sharon Stone.

AceShowbiz - "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" is gushing with stars. After the recruitment of Henry Ian Cusick and Maria Bello, NBC announced on Wednesday, July 21 that Paula Patton will join the show. This casting actually has been hinted last month when the producers were looking for a replacement for Sharon Stone.

Listed as a guest star, Stone replaced Stephanie March who is the original cast for the Assistant District Attorney role in the series. Completing her stint as Jo Marlowe last season, Stone is now replaced by Patton who will play ADA Mikka Von. This character appears in multiple episodes starting the fifth.

"When I saw Paula Patton give that terrific performance in the multi-Oscar nominated 'Precious', I knew she'd be perfect for SVU's new Assistant District Attorney - she's funny, warm and witty with a penchant for justice," executive producer Neal Baer said in a statement. Patton was Ms. Rain, a teacher of Gabourey Sidibe's character in "Precious: Based on the Novel PUSH by Sapphire".

"Law & Order: SVU" returns Wednesday, September 22 on NBC. Cusick will be playing graphic artist Erik Weber while Bello will be a woman with a secret past.
