'Glee' Hires Oscar Winner Javier Bardem

It was actually the actor's idea to have him rocking the show with his Spanish roots.

AceShowbiz - "Glee" has just proven itself it won't take just any actor as a guest. The show has struck a deal to have Oscar winner Javier Bardem on board as a rock star who befriends Kevin McHale's Artie. The idea to have him on the show in fact came from the actor himself.

EW said Bardem has watched the entire first season of "Glee" in a week. He got the privilege of working with creator Ryan Murphy in feature film "Eat, Pray, Love" which may as well benefit from this casting when it premieres this August. Bardem pitched in the idea and Murphy took it positively.

"We're going to rock the house," Bardem said in a statement to EW. "We're going to do some heavy metal - Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst."

Due to its first season success, "Glee" has been a coveted destination for actors to enhance their career resume. Just last week, Katy Perry urged her fans to create a Facebook campaign and encourage the producers to have her on the show. Jennifer Lopez previously also threw herself into the crowd but the idea of her guest starring was later postponed.

Confirmed guest stars in the second season thus far are Charice and John Stamos in addition to Bardem.
