Cristiano Ronaldo Announces He's a Dad, Keeping Mother's Identity Confidential

The 25-year-old footballer 'with great joy and emotion' informs his fans that he has 'become father to a baby boy,' but prefers to have the baby's mother's identity secret.

AceShowbiz - Although Cristiano Ronaldo is upset that his Portuguese national team was defeated at FIFA World Cup, the 25-year-old footballer is filled with joy when announcing that he is officially a dad. The unmarried star revealed the news on his Twitter and Facebook page on Saturday, July 3.

"It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father to a baby boy," Cristiano wrote. Though so, he refused to reveal the identity of his son's mother, explaining "As agreed with the baby's mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship."

Cristiano didn't give further detail of the baby, stating "No further information will be provided on this subject and I request everyone to fully respect my right to privacy (and that of the child) at least on issues as personal as these are."

The Sun, additionally, reported that on Sunday night, July 4, Cristiano's mother Dolores and sisters Elma were preparing to bring the child to Portugal, where he will be raised. According Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha, the baby boy had been born in early June.

Cristiano's current girlfriend, Russian underwear model Irina Shayk, was apparently aware of the news. She wrote on her Facebook page, "My boyfriend is, now, the father of a boy." However, Cristiano's godfather Fernao Sousa hasn't learned about the news. He said as quoted by the site, "I haven't heard anything about it. It is news to me."
