AceShowbiz - The first official photos from "The Rum Diary" have made their way out via Film Totaal. The stills give a look at Johnny Depp as a freelance journalist named Paul Kemp in the drama. One image shows the lead actor in his complete suit, while the other photo sees him wearing less formal clothes and riding a motorcycle.
The film will center its story on Kemp, a divorced alcoholic and struggling novelist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. He is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself amidst a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction.
With his new friend Bob Sala by his side, Kemp becomes entangled in a corrupt hotel development scheme with a slick PR consultant named Sanderson. Bruce Robinson tackles the helming and screen writing duties for this pic, which is aimed to come out in the U.S. within this year.
