In a biopic developed by Warner Bros., the actor is to work for the first time with director Clint Eastwood.

AceShowbiz - Leonardo DiCaprio may be the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States. In the latest casting report by Deadline, it is confirmed that the actor would lead in Warner Bros.' J. Edgar Hoover biopic tentatively titled "Hoover".

Should the report is proven true, then this would be the first time that the actor would team up with Clint Eastwood who has agreed to take on the directing job. "He going to spread his wings," one of studio sources tells Deadline in reference to DiCaprio's attachment to director Martin Scorsese in the past few years.

"Hoover" is written by "Milk" scriptwriter Dustin Lance Black who proposed it to Universal first before being rejected and went to WB instead. The studio, which is due to work with Malpaso Production in this one, has not set a target release date.

Leonardo DiCaprio has once portrayed America's important man when he took on the role of Howard Hughes in "The Aviator". But this Hoover role may be something new to him for the crime-fighting figure is rumored to be a cross-dresser despite his masculine image. It is unclear whether the film will explore the darker side of the man who was instrumental in founding the FBI.
