AceShowbiz - After closely related to Disney since early of her career, Miley Cyrus is ready to explore her darker side by playing in a paranormal thriller. The Hollywood Reporter claims the 17-year-old star is attached to star in "Wake", which is based on Lisa McMann's young-adult novel.

Paramount Pictures and MTV Films have picked up the rights to the property, while Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lindsay Williams will team up with Jodi Zuckerman, Tish Cyrus, Steven Schneider as well as Jason Blum to produce it. "Disturbia" co-writer Christopher Landon is hired to provide the script.

"Wake" is the first of three novels written by McMann about a 17-year-old girl named Janie who is cursed with the ability to become sucked into people's dreams. She sees enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime, but still unable to tell anybody about what she does. She then gets pulled into a terrible nightmare, which puts her as a participant instead of just a witness.

Miley Cyrus previously played in "Hannah Montana: The Movie" which serves as a big screen adaptation of her hit TV series "Hannah Montana". She later starred in 2009 "The Last Song" in which she shared screen with Liam Hemsworth and made a cameo appearance in "Sex and the City 2" which has been released in the U.S. since May 27.
