AceShowbiz - A founding member and former drummer of Welsh band Stereophonics, Stuart Cable, who turned 40 on May 19, was found dead in bed at his home in Aberdare, Wales at 5.30 A.M. on Monday, June 7. South Wales Police has not yet confirmed the cause of the sudden death and revealed that foul play is not suspected.

"Cause of death has not yet been established, however there are no suspicious circumstances at this stage. Next of kin have been informed," police said in a statement. Moreover, Daily Mail reported that Stuart is believed to have choked to death on his vomit after a booze binge with pals. Paramedics rushed to Stuart's house, but could not revive him.

Just 36 hours earlier, Stuart's old band Stereophonics performed in a massive homecoming gig before 30,000 fans in Cardiff. The group sacked Stuart in 2003 after falling out over his drug-taking and media career. However, former bandmate Kelly Jones led the tributes on Monday night and said they had patched up their differences.

Kelly revealed to the site that he and Stuart sent text messages to each other on Stuart's 40th birthday. Kelly shared, "I sent him a text last week to say happy birthday and he replied, 'I never thought I'd make it to 40'. I texted him back and I said, 'You will live to be 100 mate.' I'm in total shock. I was going to see Stuart today for a pint and wish him happy birthday as well."

Stuart's 79-year-old mother told Western Mail newspaper in Cardiff, "Stuart has traveled all over the world with the band and I have worried myself silly. He is now settled down and then this has happens. It has not sunk in yet." Meanwhile, his brother Paul stated, "The family has no further comment to make at this stage. It is in the hands of the police."

After leaving Stereophonics, Stuart Cable went on to play with other bands, including NailBombs, Stone Gods and most recently, Killing for Company. He had also become a media personality, hosting his own show, "Cable Rock" on BBC Wales. Stuart was also expected to play the Download Festival at Donington Park with the latter band on Saturday, June 12.
