Preview of CW's New Series 'Nikita' and 'Hellcats'
TV

Both are sexy shows but in a different way since 'Nikita' will appeal to more adults compared to 'Hellcats' which is about a bunch of high-schoolers.

AceShowbiz - The CW said during its presentation on Thursday, May 20 that its new series will attract more men into its women-oriented programs. With the absence of "Melrose Place" and "The Beautiful Life: TBL", the network is able to slip in "Nikita" and "Hellcats". These two are very different in terms of their genre and target audience.

"Nikita", starring Maggie Q, is a spy action about a troubled teenager who was secretly trained as a spy and an assassin without her knowledge. Now, after three years in hiding, Nikita is seeking retribution and making it clear to her former bosses that she will stop at nothing to expose and destroy their covert operation.

"It's like watching an action movie every week," said Dawn Ostroff, the CW's president of entertainment, adding later, "I think it will appeal to men and women." After the presentation was wrapped up, head of sales ad Rob Tuck said, "The sweet spot for us is certainly females. But that show is definitely going to have a broad appeal. It's going to bring adult advertisers."

Meanwhile, "Hellcats" is still for young adults with its cheerleading theme. Starring Alyson Michalka, it is "a coming-of-age story about Marti Perkins, a young, pre-law student at Lancer University in Memphis, Tennessee. Marti is cool, hip and alt, but her world flips upside down, literally and figuratively, when she loses her scholarship."

"Nikita" is paired with "The Vampire Diaries" on Thursdays while "Hellcats" is partnering with "America's Next Top Model" on Wednesdays.
