Jon Favreau Wants Mandarin for 'Iron Man 3' Villain
Movie

The helmer sees there will be issues in bringing the ten-ringed character on screen, but he has come out with the solutions, revealing 'It's either tech-based or the rings are not really rings.'

AceShowbiz - "Iron Man 2" has just been dropped in U.S. theaters on May 7 and talk about the follow-up has once again begun. Speaking to MTV, Jon Favreau reveals who will be likely seen as the villain in "Iron Man 3". He says, "You have to do The Mandarin," when asked whether the said character is considered to appear in the forthcoming movie.

The helmer further adds that he realizes there will be some difficulties in bringing The Mandarin to the screen, sharing "The problem with The Mandarin is, the way it's depicted in the comic books, you don't want to see that." However, he also has possible solutions for the matter, stating "He also has 10 magical rings, and it just doesn't feel right for our thing, so it's either tech-based or the rings are not really rings."

Previously, there was rumor that Raza in "Iron Man" could become the ten-ringed villain in "Iron Man 3". This led to speculation that Faran Tahir who plays the terrorist leader in the first movie might take the role of the enemy in the third film. However, nothing has been confirmed regarding these issues.

As for the possible storyline for the movie, War Machine co-creator Bob Layton has previously said, "My understanding is that the third film could very well be the 'Demon in a Bottle' story mixed in there with everything and I'm kind of looking forward to that, if that's where they wind up going."

Robert Downey Jr. is expected to reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in "Iron Man 3" and Jon Favreau is also attached to direct. The project is tentatively planned for 2012 release.
