While the horror movie becomes king at domestic chart, 'Iron Man 2' rules international box office.

AceShowbiz - Freddy Krueger has spread the nightmares over the North America. This weekend, "A Nightmare on Elm Street" has topped the domestic box office with $32.9 million cume after released on April 30.
Despite the well opening, the Jackie Earle Haley-starring movie does not manage to match another horror movie by New Line Cinema, "Friday the 13th". The 2009 film which serves as a remake to the 1980's original opened in the U.S. with $40 million tally.
On the second place of this weekend's chart is "How to Train Your Dragon". The animation has to drop one place since it only pulls in $10.6 million on the sixth weekend. Also experiencing more than 20 percent decline in ticket sales, "Date Night" follows on the third with $7.6 million revenue.
"The Back-Up Plan", meanwhile, has a sloppy second week. Debuted as a runner-up last week, the Jennifer Lopez-starring romantic comedy drops 40.5|percent| with $7.2 million gross. It now sits on the fourth place.
Another newcomer "Furry Vengeance" does not make much compared to "A Nightmare on Elm Street" since it only manages to nab the fifth spot. The Summit Entertainment's family comedy which has Brendan Fraser and Brooke Shields among the cast ensemble collects $6.6 million.
From international box office report, "Iron Man 2" which gets earlier release in some overseas countries has shown its domination. The superhero film pulled in $100.2 million in 53 foreign markets, Associated Press reports. According to Paramount, the sequel has bigger openings than 2008 "Iron Man" in every market.
