'The First Avenger: Captain America' Sets Production Date, Opening Audition

The winner of the competition to be the superhero is expected to be announced in the next few weeks, before the movie starts shooting on June 28.

AceShowbiz - Though it has not cast any actor to tackle the major character, "The First Avenger: Captain America" has planned to begin production in less than half-a-year. In a note posted by Disney Feature Film Casting, it is known that the movie will set the cameras to roll starting June 28.

However, the site confirms previous report that several actors have joined the screen test for the lead role. Those who are said being considered to be Steve Rogers aka Captain America include Chace Crawford ("Gossip Girl"), John Krasinski ("The Office"), Scott Porter ("Friday Night Lights"), Mike Vogel ("Cloverfield"), Michael Cassidy ("Smallville") and Patrick Flueger ("The 4400").

The decision of who landing the coveted role in expected to be announced within the next few weeks. Additionally, Marvel Studios is opening casting call to search supporting actors, day players and extras. In addition to the casting information, the site also points out that the synopsis for the film has been found. However, the summary is later taken down after the studio contacts them to inform that the official story synopsis has not been released and the one that has been posted earlier by Disney Feature Film Casting is not accurate.

Based on a character in Marvel comics, "The First Avenger: Captain America" will follow Steve Rogers military service washout who volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America and tries to fit in his new image. Joe Johnston has been tapped to direct with the script penned by Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus. Kevin Feige produces this superhero action movie which has July 22, 2011 release schedule.
