Estelle responds to controversy surrounding her 'Freak' music video which is directed Nabil Elderkin by debuting it in full.

AceShowbiz - Estelle has premiered her controversial music video in support of her new single "Freak". In the video directed by Nabil Elderkin who previously worked on Kanye West's "Coldest Winter" haunting video, the singer is acting freaky on the screen with her collaborator Kardinal Offishal.

The video sparks controversy because Estelle uses black paint to cover her body and face. "I think they need to wait to see the clip. I could defend myself, but it's just silly," she responded to MTV about the criticism. "I'm black, so how do I do blackface? Missy [Elliott] did the same thing [with her video]. She's a B***h. I refuse to defend it, I didn't put any white ring around my mouth - never that."

Nabil himself hasn't commented on the backlash. But when shooting the video, he said about aiming to capture something fun and different. "We are making a video about Estelle acting freaky and we're gonna do lots of things: turns, fingers, beauty looks, freaky looks, fast dancers, it's gonna be hot," he said.

"Freak" is taken from Estelle's forthcoming studio album "All of Me" which is planned to be released later this year.
