AceShowbiz - Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton have visited CBS' "The Early Show" on March 2 to announce nominees of the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. And, Lady Antebellum dominate the list, grabbing seven nods.
The trio is vying for Top Vocal Group of the Year, Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Single Record of the Year and Song of the Year. In the two latter categories, they get double nominations; as an artist and producer for Single Record of the Year and as an artist and composer for Song of the Year.
"You always hear about the power of a great song, and there's no doubt that 'Need You Now' has definitely been a career-changer for us ... but seven nominations?" the band's member Dave Haywood said in a statement after learning about the gongs. "We are blown away."
Following Lady Antebellum's domination is Miranda Lambert with six nods. She is facing off the country music group in Album of the Year, Single Record of the Year and Video of the Year. Also, she is nominated as an artist and composer in Song of the Year and appears among the contenders of Top Female Vocalist.
"She's blown away," commented Miranda's boyfriend Blake who also is nominated in the vocal event category for his "Hillbilly Bone" collaboration with Trace Adkins. "I think she's on Cloud 9. It's one thing to get a nomination here or there. It's another thing whenever you dominate the nominations. She and Lady Antebellum I think did that."
Carrie Underwood also receives six gongs. After winning Entertainer of the Year and Top Female Vocalist last year, she once again is nominated for the two categories this year. In addition, she is vying as an artist and composer in Song of the Year for her "Cowboy Casanova" single, Album of the Year for "Play On" as well as Vocal Event of the Year for "I Told You So" with Randy Travis.
Other artists receiving multiple nominations are Taylor Swift with five and Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band as well as Brad Paisley with four each.
Voting to determine winners from three categories; Top New Solo Vocalist, Top New Vocal Duo and Top New Vocal Group, have been opened since February 26 and will be closed on March 12 on ACM Awards official site. Then, the winners will be running for Top New Artist with voting beginning April 1 along with fans voting for Entertainer of the Year.
2010 ACM Awards will be held on April 18 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with Reba McEntire taking the mic as a host. One day after the awards show is wrapped, an all-star tribute concert will be conducted at the same venue. Country music duo Brooks & Dunn are going to be handed the Academy of Country Music's Milestone Award during the special gig dubbed "ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn -- the Last Rodeo".
