Movie

The singer turned actor has signed on star in the comedy in which his former girlfriend is cast as the leading lady.

AceShowbiz - Justin Timberlake continues adding film on his career resume. After landing supporting roles in such movies as "Alpha Dog" and "The Love Guru" and a lead role in "The Social Network", he has nabbed the coveted male lead in "Bad Teacher". In the upcoming comedy, he will star opposite his real life ex-girlfriend Cameron Diaz who has been cast earlier for the movie.

Justin will portray a substitute teacher who is dating Cameron's colleague, played by Lucy Punch. Cameron, meanwhile, plays a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher who, after being dumped by her boyfriend, sets her eyes on Justin's character, who is also the scion of a watch fortune.

In addition to Justin, former "Saturday Night Live" actress Molly Shannon and "Modern Family" actor Eric Stonestreet are also cast. They will join Jason Segel ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall") and John Michael Higgins ("The Ugly Truth") who have been cast in the supporting roles, starring as a gym teacher and the principal respectively.

Commenting about cast line-up, co-president of Columbia Pictures Doug Belgrad tells Access Hollywood, "With Justin, Molly and Eric, joining Cameron, Jason, Lucy and the rest of this dream comedy cast, we couldn't be more excited about this movie. We love what we've seen of Justin's performance in David Fincher's 'The Social Network' and he is a perfect match for this role."

The script for "Bad Teacher" is written Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, and the film will be directed by Jake Kasdan. Jimmy Miller produces the movie which starts shooting this March in Los Angeles. Columbia eyes 2011 release schedule for this flick.
