AceShowbiz - National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) handed out the statuettes to the winners of the 41st Annual Image Awards on Friday, February 26. First to receive the honor in television category is Keke Palmer who beats Selena Gomez in Outstanding Performance in a Youth/Children's Program for her role on "True Jackson, VP".
Later on, Jada Pinkett Smith successfully blocks the chance of "Grey's Anatomy" stars Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson to win the Outstanding Actress in Drama Series. The wife of Will Smith is starring in a medical series airing on TNT, "Hawthorne". Meanwhile in the Male category, it is Hill Harper who wins through "CSI: NY".
In Comedy, "Brothers" star Daryl Mitchell wins the Outstanding Actor category while Cassi Davis aka Ella Payne of "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" wins the Actress side. Davis' victory is followed by her co-stars Lance Gross and Keshia Knight Pulliam winning Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress respectively.
The victories actually make "House of Payne" a clear winner when it is also announced that the TBS show is taking the Outstanding Comedy Series nod. In the meantime, the Outstanding Drama Series is taken by "Lincoln Heights" which ironically was not renewed for the fifth season by ABC Family.
The NAACP also honors the best in movie, music and literature.
