Recap: Top 12 Guys of 'American Idol' Perform
TV

The judges regretted bringing back Tim Urban, agreed on Casey James' good look that transcends his talent, and were disappointed by Andrew Garcia.

AceShowbiz - On Wednesday, February 25, it was the guys' turn to take the stage of "American Idol" and garner votes from it. Todrick Hall was the first to perform and he took a bold step to re-arrange Kelly Clarkson's "Since You've Been Gone" to an R & B. Simon Cowell said, "I thought it was a crazy arrangement of the song. What you did was completely murder the original song. You can boo all you want, but nobody would buy it. I think what you did was verging on stupid."

Aaron Kelly was next and he did what's he's best for, country music. Singing Rascal Flatts' "Here Comes Goodbye", Aaron got the compliment of being cute by both Simon and Kara Dioguardi. "You're a good singer. Very likable. Very cute, but you have to take control of the song. I think absolutely 100% you'll be here this week," Simon said.

Jermaine Sellers did a cross gender song, singing Oleta Adams' "Get Here". Simon put it flat and square, saying Jermaine has blown his opportunity in the show. Ellen DeGeneres meanwhile, said, "There were a couple of times that you went out and off."

Tim Urban who has the pressure of being Chris Golightly's replacement, brought the song which has frequently been used in the show, OneRepublic's "Apologize". His version did not impress the judges. Simon cruelly said, "We absolutely made the right decision the first time around based on that performance. You may make it through because people feel sorry for you and you're good looking."

Joe Munez took the notch a little higher with Jason Mraz's "You and I Both". Kara said, "Tonight in terms of the singing, I think you were the best. You were the most consistent in there." Simon kind of "agreed" but said that in 10 seconds people were going to forget the performance.

Tyler Grady was kind of screaming Guess Who's "American Woman" rather than singing it. Randy Jackson thought it was "style over substance" while Simon said, "Plus side, people are going to remember that performance. Pretend-to-be-a-rockstar school. We know what your style gimmick is, but you have to change it a little bit."

Lee Dewzey performed Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" and Simon praised him for his charm. He said, "I thought this was the best performance by a mile. Totally. This guy is a naturally good singer. I fought for you to be there and I still will."

John Park brought the jazz to the stage with "God Bless the Child". Unfortunately the performance was beyond par. The judges agreed with Simon that it was not good enough. "You have got to have an incredible voice to take on that song, and you haven't. It came over as very flat and zero emotion," Simon said.

Michael Lynche had his guitar with him while performing Maroon 5's "This Love". The judges agreed that Michael was a breath of relief in the middle of low quality performances. However, Simon still graded it equally bad. He said, "You were like the support act before the main act. I've heard performances like that 10 or 20,000 times."

Alex Lambert tried James Morrison's "Wonderful World" and was shaky in the first half. Simon slammed his charisma, saying "I don't know who was more happy for that to end, you or me. That was the most uncomfortable performance of the night. You have a good voice, a naturally good voice, but if you can't get your nerves together, this isn't going to work." Ellen compared him to an unripe banana.

Casey James, blessed with his good look, sang Bryan Adams' "Heaven" with his guitar on. Ellen joked, "I could feel Kara undressing you with her eyes." Simon chose to touch the beautiful issue as well, saying "One thing I understand is that we both were cursed with good looks and somehow you have to manage the talent thing as well."

Saved as the last act was Andrew Garcia who has been the judges' favorite all this far until he delivered a mediocre performance of Fall Out Boy's "Sugar, We're Goin' Down". Disappointed Simon lamented, "I was looking forward to hearing you more than anyone tonight, but I was disappointed. Too serious, too indulgent and not original enough."
