The 'Gossip Girl' hunk and the 'The Office' star are joined by four other actors among the list of guys who will possibly star as the superhero in upcoming movie 'The First Avenger: Captain America'.

AceShowbiz - More names are linked to the big role in "The First Avenger: Captain America". After Chris Pine was said to have been offered the part, it is "Gossip Girl" actor Chace Crawford and "The Office" star John Krasinski who are rumored being wanted by Marvel Studios to be the superhero, so Deadline Hollywood mentions.

The two still have to compete with other stars as Scott Porter of "Friday Night Lights", Mike Vogel of "Cloverfield" and Michael Cassidy of "Smallville" allegedly have also agreed to test deals with director Joe Johnston and the studio. Additionally, Garrett Hedlund of "Tron Legacy" is being considered to take the role but he has not made a test deal. Whoever being chosen to play Captain America, Deadline further reported, must sign for nine other options, including potential sequels to upcoming film.

Previously, Pine was said close to sign a deal to star in the film, but the news was debunked by a source close to him who claimed the depicter of Captain Kirk in "Star Trek" has not got the offer. Later, Comic Book Movie connected "One Tree Hill" star Robert Buckley to the role but soon the post was taken down.

"The First Avenger: Captain America" will follow Steve Rogers military service washout who volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America and tries to fit in his new image. Kevin Feige produces the film while Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus have been tapped to write the script. Production for the film is expected to be kicked off this summer to meet July 22, 2011 deadline.
