Despite being in the lead for the first few hours of the race, the high school sweethearts could not complete a road block challenge that requires balancing.

AceShowbiz - "The Amazing Race" officially raised its flag of the 16th season on Sunday, February 14. The 11 teams began the race by taking a public transportation to the Los Angeles International airport. The first three teams to arrive got the privilege of taking the first flight which is one hour apart off the second one. Monique and Shawne, Jeff and Jordan and Dana and Adrian were early. Unfortunately the first flight was delayed and they all ended up on the same second flight.
They visited Santiago, Chile as the first stop. Taking a bus, teams had to travel 60 miles to the first clue box. Monique and Shawne, Jeff and Jordan, Brente and Caite, and Adrian and Dana were the first batch to depart followed by Carol and Brandy five minutes later and then the rest of the team.
The first challenge was a road block and it required a team member to walk on a cable hung 120 feet above the ground. Caite took the challenge and she finished easily. Dan and Brandy however, had difficulty in balancing themselves but it was Adrian who fell twice and gave up trying.
The next challenge was less nerve-wrecking. Finding a few cans of paint, they were told to find a house with matching color and finish painting a space. By this time Jeff and Jordan were in the lead because they could find the house quickly. They received the clue and headed straight to the first pit stop of the race. As the first place winner, they were given a trip for two to Vancouver, British Columbia.
Meanwhile, Brent and Caite arrived second but they had to take a 30-minute penalty for not completing the course correctly. They dropped to 7th place, overtaken by Monique and Shawne. Adrian and Dana, never reached the pit stop and were eliminated because they could not finish the cable task.
