Jim Carrey, Ewan McGregor Pair Up for 'Phillip Morris' French Premiere

The depicters of gay lovers in the drama comedy have teamed up to promote the film by coming to the special screening at the Cinematheque Francaise in Paris.

AceShowbiz - Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor have brought their on-screen love to France. On Monday, February 1, the two actors were seen embracing each other when posing for the cameras while attending the premiere of their movie "I Love You Phillip Morris" at the Cinematheque Francaise in Paris.

Carrey and McGregor were not the only ones who supported the event. They were joined by duo directors and writers John Requa and Glenn Ficarra who came to the venue to promote the film. Though the special screening was lacking in cast, it did attract a lot of celebrities, particularly French stars.

Miss France 2006 Alexandra Rosenfeld, Miss France 2007 Rachel Legrain-Trapani and Miss France 2008 Valerie Begue were some of them. Later, Lea Drucker, Melanie Laurent as well as Julie Ferrier were also pictured hitting the red carpet. Additionally, Canada-born actor Anthony Kavanagh was seen among the attendees.

Based on the real life events of con artist and impostor Steven Russell, "I Love You Phillip Morris" follows Russell in his efforts to stay together with his gay lover. A married father, Russell lands himself time in Texas' prison for his conman ways. Falling in with his cellmate Morris, Russell escapes from prison four times doing whatever he can like faking his own death only to meet his lover.

Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor star as Russell and Morris respectively. It additionally features the likes of Leslie Mann and Rodrigo Santoro. After reportedly having difficulty to find a U.S. distributor due to its homosexual content, the drama comedy has been bought by Consolidated Pictures Group which plans to release the film in limited U.S. theaters on March 26.
