The 'Baywatch' star is set to play the iconic character in forthcoming film 'Conan', while the 57-year-old actor has yet to sign for the role.

AceShowbiz - Lionsgate Films has found the depicter of Conan in Jason Momoa, Deadline Hollywood has reported. The "Baywatch" actor has landed the lead role in upcoming movie "Conan", beating out "Twilight" hunk Kellan Lutz who eyed the same part.

Beside Momoa and Lutz, there was actually another actor among the top contenders to be Conan. However, Deadline which first came up with the news failed to reveal the name. Apparently, the "unnamed but better established actor" was Jared Padalecki from TV series "Supernatural", Latino Review has just claimed.

Following news that Momoa has been cast, Latino has also obtained information which mentions that Mickey Rourke has been offered to be Conan's father, Corin. However, the depicter of Marv in "Sin City" has not signed yet for the film.

"Conan" will center its story on iconic figure Conan the Cimmerian and his adventures across the continent of Hyboria. The film is scheduled to kick off production on March 15 in Bulgaria with Marcus Nispel set to direct.

Prior to his involvement in this action adventure film project, Jason Momoa is known for his role as Jason Ioane in TV series "Baywatch". The Hawaiian actor has also appeared in sci-fi series "Stargate: Atlantis", playing Ronon Dex since 2004 until the show ended in January 2009.
