'Green Lantern': Mark Strong Is the Possible Sinestro

Contrary to swirling reports that Jackie Earle Haley circles the role, director Martin Campbell has explained Mark Strong is the one who could be seen playing the villainous character.

Martin Campbell has dismissed rumors which mention that is being considered to play Sinestro, who is also the former mentor of Hal Jordan, in "". Speaking to MTV during the junket for his upcoming action "", the helmer claimed the news is not true, saying "No, that's completely wrong."

Campbell then revealed, "In fact, we're in negotiations with to play Sinestro." Explaining the reason why the "" actor could possibly take the role of the villainous character, the filmmaker stated, "He's not only a wonderful actor, but he looks like Sinestro. If you look up old pictures of Sinestro, he's very like him."

Additionally, the 65-year-old mentioned some of the characters from "Green Lantern" universe which will make appearances in the film. "Well, Kilowog will be. Tomar-Re is in it. Sinestro is in it. Abin Sur is in it. All the origin people. Carol [Ferris], of course, who will be played by ," he told MTV. "All the main characters are there."

Beside Strong, has been reportedly in talks to play one of the villains in "Green Lantern". The "" star may play Dr. Hector Hammond, the pathologist son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment in his father's eyes. He becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers a meteor.

"Green Lantern" will follow Hal Jordan, an ordinary man who was chosen by a dying alien named Abin Sur to receive a green energy-powered ring used for protecting the planet. is set to play the titular character in the movie, which is slated for June 17, 2011 release date in the U.S.

Before playing Lord Blackwood in "Sherlock Holmes", Mark Strong has appeared in "" as Archy and in "" as Septimus. He will be next seen starring as Frank D'Amico in 2010 movie "".
