Revealing the shooting schedule is scribe Jonah Hill, who also informs that the upcoming movie will be 'a comedy with really cool action.'

AceShowbiz - Jonah Hill recently had a chat with Coming Soon to talk about "21 Jump Street". Providing some updates about the progress of the project, the scriptwriter who has been tapped to pen the upcoming film reveals that the movie is expected to start production in 2010 with "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller set to serve behind the lens. "We're going to shoot it this year I think," he shared.

Speaking of the film's story, Hill claimed it is going to surprise fans. "[Audiences are] not expecting what it's going to be. It's not a parody of the show," he said. "It's a group of people that go back to high school to deal with a drug problem. To deal with crime in high school. I really love the 'Back to the Future' moment of that where it's getting to relive a certain period of your life... It's a comedy with really cool action."

Beside writing the script, Hill also serves as executive producer and is attached to play one of the police officers. Apart from him, no actor has been announced as part of the cast ensemble. When asked if the film will feature the same characters who appeared in the original 1980s TV series, he stated, "There might be a couple of surprises in there... [T]he Chapel's there. There will be stuff from the show."

The original TV series of the same title which was aired by FOX featured Johnny Depp, who gained recognition through his role in the show. The story followed a group of cop who looks young enough to work undercover in high schools and colleges and search out troubled kids.
