'The View' will have General Larry Platt who got Mary J. Blige laughing so hard during 'American Idol' audition and has more to tell beyond the ridiculously-titled song.

AceShowbiz - The only way to gain fame through "American Idol" is either to be super talented or to be eccentric. When the show visited Atlanta for season 9's audition, producers found General Larry Platt who impressed the judge with his self-penned song "Pants on the Ground" and a dance that a 62-year-old would not typically do.
The man is now going to make his first major TV interview. ABC's "The View" will have him performing the song and sitting down between the ladies to talk about himself on Monday, January 18 at 11 A.M. "Idol" judge Simon Cowell said that he had a feeling that "Pants" would be a hit.
When interviewed via phone by blogger Rodney Ho, Platt commented that his "Idol" appearance "played real real good". He also revealed the inspiration behind the song, saying he saw a guy walking down with a baby in his arm and his pants slipping below the hips to reveal the underwear. The song came to him and he started chanting it. "He was being disrespectful so I wanted to embarrass him," Platt said. "He rolled his eyes and pulled his pants up a little bit."
Beyond the ridiculously-titled song, there is more to dig from Platt. He calls himself a four-star general in the civil rights movement, revealing that he marched with Martin Luther King Jr. and Hosea Williams back in the 1960s. According to Ho's colleague, there was indeed a photographic evidence of him joining the cause.
Platt occasionally fixes cars for a living but his passion is in dancing and singing. "I can do things better than a lot of 28 year olds," he said. The man who wears sunglasses to the audition claimed he was shot in the eye at the age of three.
