Steven Tyler Checks Himself Into Rehab for Painkiller Addiction

Steven's actress daughter Liv Tyler has uttered her support for her father to seek treatment for his addiction to prescription painkillers.

AceShowbiz - Steven Tyler issues a confirming statement to People that he has checked himself into rehab to get rid of his addiction to prescription painkillers as a result of performance injuries 10 years ago. "With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my bandmates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford," says the 61-year-old musician.

"I love Aerosmith; I love performing as the lead singer in Aerosmith," continues Steven referring to his rock band. "I am grateful for all of the support and love I am receiving and am committed to getting things taken care of." No information is shared though on the name of the facility where he is treated.

In the wake of Steven's rehab confirmation, his daughter Liv Tyler says, "My family and I are in complete support of my dad's decision to seek treatment. He is a courageous man. We love him and are so proud that he is getting help to balance his pain management, not just for himself but for his family, friends and fans."

Steven Tyler entered rehab in May 2008, reportedly to recuperate from a series of operations he had on his feet. Of this matter, his physician Dr. Brian McKeon has confirmed to People, orthopedic injuries over the past decade have left Steven with "severe chronic pain" and will require additional surgeries on his knees and feet.
