Las Vegas Film Critics Named 'The Hurt Locker' Best Picture

In addition to the Best Picture prize, the Kathryn Bigelow's action drama also grabbed four other gongs, making it a big winner at the 2009 Sierra Awards.

AceShowbiz - Las Vegas Film Critics Society (LVFCS) has honored "The Hurt Locker" as the Best Picture at its 2009 Sierra Awards. On the list that has been announced on Wednesday, December 16, it has also been known that the action drama won big as it grabbed the most gongs.

Beside the Best Picture prize, "The Hurt Locker" also aided Jeremy Renner and Kathryn Bigelow to receive Best Actor award and Best Director gong respectively. Additionally, the film also took home Best Cinematography and Best Film Editing kudos.

Meanwhile, nabbing two kudos were "Inglourious Basterds" and "The Fantastic Mr. Fox". The Brad Pitt-starring action drama won Best Supporting Actor prize for Christoph Waltz and Best Costume Design award for Anna B. Sheppard. The Wes Anderson-directed animation, in the meantime, was named Best Family Film and Best Animated Film.

Also among the winners at 2009 LVFCS Sierra Awards were Gabourey Sidibe and Saoirse Ronan. Sidibe was chosen as Best Actress through her performance in "Precious: Based on the Novel PUSH by Sapphire" while "The Lovely Bones" star was honored with Youth in Film prize.
