Hollywood Foreign Press Association puts "Up in the Air" and "Glee" as the leaders in their respective categories, giving The Weinstein Company the glory of 12 nominations.
- Dec 15, 2009
AceShowbiz - Justin Timberlake, John Krasinski and Diane Kruger got up extra early on Tuesday, December 15 to read out the contenders for 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Under the Motion Pictures category, "Up in the Air", the dramedy starring George O'Clooney and Anna Kendrick, receives six nods including Best Motion Picture Drama.
Next earner in terms of number is Rob Marshall's "Nine" with five nominations. Its lead actors Marion Cotillard and Daniel Day-Lewis are nominated for Best Actress and Actor in Motion Picture respectively while the movie itself is vying for Best Motion Picture along with "Julie & Julia" and "The Hangover" among others. Studio-wise, The Weinstein Company leads with 12, thanks to "Nine" and "Inglourious Basterds".
In the meantime, the TV category is led by FOX's critically-praised musical "Glee". Beating the number that last year's big winners "30 Rock" and "Mad Men" got this year by a sheer 1, "Glee" has the chance to win Best TV Series, Best Actress in TV, Best Actor in TV and Best Supporting Actress in TV. In terms of network, HBO is far ahead the others by collecting 17 nominations. FOX takes the second place with 6.
The 67th Annual Golden Globes nominations were announced in Beverly Hills, California. The ceremony to hand out the prizes will be held on January 17 at the usual venue of Beverly Hilton Hotel. For the first time in 14 years, the event will have a host to lead the show and Ricky Gervais gets the honor.
