The 'Eragon' actor is said in negotiations to be an elderly enemy of Spider-Man, while the actress may be seen playing a brand new superpowered villain.

AceShowbiz - The next Spider-Man's enemies could be found in John Malkovich and Anne Hathaway. According to Movieline, the site has confirmed with sources close to the film that "Spider-Man 4" is circling those two stars to play the villains in the upcoming Sam Raimi-directed movie.

The 56-year-old is reportedly in negotiations with the filmmakers to play the Vulture. In the original Marvel comic books, the possible character for the "Eragon" actor is described as an elderly enemy of Spider-Man, who packs a punch despite his advanced age. The Vulture has flying ability and his sharp wings can be used as projectile weapons.

As for Hathaway, she is said to be the top choice for Felicia Hardy, the character of which has also been linked to Julia Stiles and Romola Garai. However, it is reported that this Felicia Hardy in the fourth "Spider-Man" film will not transform into the Black Cat as what happens in the comic books. Instead, she will become a brand new superpowered figure called the Vulturess, Movieline claimed.

In the fourth installment of the superhero film, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst will reprise their roles as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Mary Jane Watson. Produced by Avi Arad along with Grant Curtis and Laura Ziskin, "Spider-Man 4" script is written by Gary Ross alongside David Lindsay-Abaire and James Vanderbilt. The principal photography is planned to be kicked off in February or March 2010, and the film is slated to hit U.S. theaters on May 6, 2011.
