Liam Neeson Joins the Cast of 'The Next Three Days'

The star of 'Taken' will portray an ex-con who teaches Russell Crowe how to help Elizabeth Banks breaking out of prison in the Paul Haggis-directed thriller.

The cast of "" are expanding with the addition of . The actor who lends his voice to Aslan in "" has joined the already-signed actors which include and .

The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that Neeson's part will be a cameo. The 57-year-old will be filling in the shoes of an ex-convict. Having escaped from prison several times and wrote a book about it, his character will help Crowe's in plotting to break his wife out of prison. It is yet unclear whether he has joined the filming that has been kicked off Friday, October 2.

This part is not the only project Liam Neeson has under his belt. The actor who has just lost his actress wife Natasha Richardson is currently involved with the production of "", wherein he is tapped to play Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith. He has also just wrapped "" and "".

Based on the 2008 French film "Pour Elle", "The Next Three Days" is an upcoming thriller from director/writer Paul Haggis. He also produces alongside Michael Nozik, Marc Missonnier and Olivier Delbosc. This feature project marks his return to Lionsgate after 2004's drama "".

The movie tells the story of a teacher whose wife is falsely convicted of a gruesome murder she didn't commit. As the wife becomes suicidal after several years of incarceration, the teacher is faced with desperate choices that will test the limits of love and alter their lives forever. The shooting is taking place in and around Pittsburgh, and is scheduled to wrap December 12.
