Movie

Producer Jon Landau teases on what story may be dug up for the second 'Avatar' movie should it get a green light.

AceShowbiz - "Avatar" is yet to hit theaters, but sequel talks have swirled around. The most recent words have come out from the mouth of producer Jon Landau in an interview with French magazine Le Film, in which he hinted on the premise of "Avatar 2" should the follow-up receive the thumbs up from the studio.

While he didn't reveal much on what the possible sequel will be dealing with, the filmmaker did suggest that a sequel development will depend on the success of the December-released movie. "If the public likes Avatar, it's a possibility," he revealed as translated by Slash Film. "After all, here we are exploring the surface of the planet Pandora. The interior remains to be seen."

During the talk, Landau also confirmed on two future projects, a manga adaptation "Battle Angel" and an underwater romance "The Dive". "We'll go on to Battle Angel Alita and The Dive, a love story in the middle of a dive," he mentioned, adding that director James Cameron is also involved. "James is directing both projects."

"Avatar" is a live action movie directed, co-produced and written also by the "Titanic" helmer James Cameron. It lines up Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Sigourney Weaver as botanist Dr. Grace Augustine, Stephen Lang as Marine Corps Colonel Quaritch, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, Michelle Rodriguez as retired Marine pilot Trudy Chacon, and many others.

This 20th Century Fox film will follow an ex-marine as he is thrust unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity, who eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a battle for survival. It is set to hit the U.S. theaters on December 18.
