Mickey Rourke Under Spotlight on New 'Iron Man 2' Set Visit
Movie

Director Jon Favreau and cast members, Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle, talk about the casting of 'The Wrestler' star as Whiplash in the 'Iron Man' sequel.

AceShowbiz - Entertainment Tonight (ET) has just brought forth another set visit video for "Iron Man 2". Focusing mainly on Mickey Rourke and his villainous character, Whiplash, the two minutes plus footage from the set of the highly anticipated "Iron Man" sequel features commentary from director Jon Favreau and fellow cast members, Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle.

"Once we thought of him, we started developing the costume and the design of the character around him," Favreau told ET's Thea Andrews on the casting of Rourke. "His career got very busy as he was doing all the award season stuff and it took some time to make everything work out, but he was enthusiastic from our first meeting. And, I was so glad that it worked out. Now he's a very formidable adversary to Robert Downey Jr."

Downey Jr. also shared his thought on the joining of the star of "The Wrestler". He said, "It was a big deal and we all worked very hard to make it happen. He's a serious actor, he's got a big wheelhouse of stuff. Our idea, and Jon particularly being so passion about Mickey being in this, we knew he would bring something to a nemesis character that would make it more engaging and more dimensional and all of that stuff."

As for Paltrow who returns to reprise her Pepper Potts role, she revealed that she hasn't got the chance to shoot a scene with Rourke yet but admitted to have come pass him a couple of times. "We haven't actually worked together yet because everything I've done [with his character] has been his stunt double," she confessed.

"Iron Man 2" has among others Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard for Colonel James 'Rhodey' Rhodes and Scarlett Johansson starring as Black Widow. The script is written by "Tropic Thunder" co-scribbler Justin Theroux. Paramount Pictures will distribute this action movie in theaters across the U.S. on May 7, 2010.
